Satirical propaganda poster commenting on the lack of virtue in wanting your neighbor to buy things for you.
"No free government can stand without virtue in the people, and a lofty spirit of patriotism . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." - John Adams
Oh wow. Yes. This has been on my mind so much lately. I was startled - pleasantly so! - to find the idea embodied here. Excellent quality, both of message and visual effect.
I would like to say that although I agree with this poster, I am not conservative. Nor am I liberal. The real propaganda is that you have to be one or the other. There's no longer "Americans", only "Democrats" and "Republicans." How about all of you who are ignorantly attacking each other take a second to actually build your very own personal set of beliefs and not just conform to whatever political party sounds the nicest. Through this personal discovery you will realize that pointing out differences only separates and weakens. We're all just trying to save America from the slippery slope its found itself on with not a whole lot of spare time to argue like children. And as for ya'll who live outside the states: Be aware that if America fails, so does a whole lot of the world. We have our greedy hands mixed up in WAY too many other countries to back out now, so don't be afraid to criticize (Just do it constructively unless you want our extremist idiots to lash out at you).
Pointing out to the existence of a cliff does not create it. Republican-dominated states functions differently than democrate-dominated states, sometimes they have an even bigger divide than among european countries. Mind you, republicans are not 100% conservatives by a long shot, especially their leadership.
From what I see, conservatives keeps to the values of the USA, liberals believes they know better (but don´t). One side is less "american" than the other.
That doesn't change the fact that there will always be people who disagree in America. Only a child would believe that we can just force the entire country to think the same way. Therefore the only means by which we can actually move forward and solve issues is with compromise. Otherwise we risk stagnation and, ultimately, failure.
Indeed, there has but not Well, you should die! type of disagreement. Not the type of disagreement that makes individuals want to abolish the 1st and 2nd US amendement because they are short-sighted enough to believe it will furthers their self-interests and beliefs.
Compromise only works with someone who actually understand why there should be a compromise, when a large and growing part of the electorat doesn´t have the mentality of spoiled children.
Even worst when the governement itself believes it could and need to be able to impose its decisions regardless of what its subjects thinks. This intention is why there is this push to ban "assault" rifles and why opposing that is important.
Some very very blind people on this site. Really good artwork though man. The message is amazing and the artwork itself is classical yet relevant. Very well done.
Like it man, you got a lot of guts to put out such an unpopular opinion. I respect that, and you do great work. It's got a real old feel to it, but it applies to the modern world pretty well I think. Feels like something out of the Cold War, maybe Depression era.
